On May 3, HRDF held next training in Gori for single parents. The participants learned more about their rights and got answers to all their questions. Representative of the Gender Equality Department at the Public Defender’s Office Ana Lobzhanidze led the legal part of the training.
The second part of the training was dedicated to the psychological issues and included various role plays. The purpose of the section was to psychologically reinforce the single parents and it was led by psychiatrist Sofo Tabagua, representative of the Georgian Center for Psycho-Social and Medical Rehabilitation of Torture Victims. She spoke about the aggression and negative attitudes from the society and introduced the participants with the tools how to cope with those aggressions.
Similar training was organized on May 15 in Tbilisi based SOS Children’s Village for the women living in the shelter and single parents.
HRDF continues the training for single parents. The project aiming to advocate the rights of single parents cover four regions of Georgia: Kakheti, Shida Kartli, Imereti and Tbilisi. The trainings will be organized for the single parents from those regions.
